W. Bro Mohamad Afsa – Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principal

When we look at a man wearing an apron we could smile because it is unusual, especially if the man with the apron is wearing a suit. Many people may laugh, other may smile, other would not even notice, other would enquire.

Like in every obligation or society, there are symbols or accessories that distinguish its members. Freemasonry is the same. The apron shows the degree of knowledge that a brother has achieved along the journey.

In talking about W. Bro Mohamad Afsa – Assistant to the Provincial Grand Principal – we could describe him through the passion and the dedication he put into the Fraternity, emblematical of fervency and zeal.

Every and each one of us has a story, with a different background, hobbies and experiences that makes the man behind the apron unique in a society where each member is seen as a Brother (Craft) or Companion (Royal Arch)

For some, the society is a way of escaping the daily stress and to find friends, and that’s exactly what has happened to W. Bro Afsa, Mo to his friends: “I have joined to make friends and to enjoy the company of good people. At that time, I didn’t imagine that I would have woven myself into the Fabric of this Society. Freemasonry became my main hobby, my daily destress, a way to share experiences and smile with friends. It’s through those simple little things that I started to appreciate life in full”.

Mo lives with his partner Claire, who manages a care home. They have been together for many years and on every occasion, Mo shows how much he loves her even if only talking about her at the social board with other Companions.

When the weather is nice, they love to step out of their house and go for long walks in the country, enjoying each other’s company while admiring the scenery.

This is something they started to do when the first restrictions post Covid were lifted, but travelling the world is still their favorite thing to do together, exploring different cultures, dishes, and creating memories. “We like to make the most of our lives”.

Living in England, like many, football is part of the culture and of course, Mo is an avid supporter of the sport. He loves playing when he has a chance with his friends or watching matches on Tv discussing the actions on the field.

His goal in life is to live life quietly and fully, appreciate every day, every moment, every laugh and to help everyone in need. After all, Mo is a GP and there is no day where he won’t stay after closing time to finish his work. A man who dedicated himself in helping others, the real meaning of Freemasonry, to make ourselves better each day more, a step at a time, enjoying the little simple things that life gifted us with our brothers and loves one.
