Margaret Matthews is a volunteer with the Manchester Court’s Witness Support Service, who contacted Manchester Masons earlier this year to request a donation of TLC Bears to offer to children to comfort them when called to give evidence in, often harrowing court cases.

She was delighted to promptly receive the bears from TLC Coordinator WBro Brian Wilson.

Margaret went on to say that she thought that Freemasonry is a wonderful organisation and that she would contact her son-in-law in the Isle of Wight to let him know what a wonderful organisation he had just joined.

Manchester’s Masons very own TLC Co-Ordinator Brian Wilson had a meeting with Margaret at Manchester Hall last week and commented afterwards “I was impressed to discover that, together with her colleagues, identity tags have been added to each bear translated into five languages, each one saying “Hello, I’m Sebastian. I’m your friend from the Witness Support Service.”

TLC (Teddies for Loving Care) is nationally managed by Freemasons who also volunteer their time to run the scheme. Since its inception in 2001, over 3.5 million teddies have been distributed to hospitals throughout England and Wales.
