Salford Masonic Hall

Situated at 41–42 The Crescent, Salford Masonic Hall—also known as Hemsley House—has been at the heart of Freemasonry in Salford for nearly a century.

The hall was built during the 1920s, replacing two of the original Georgian houses that once occupied the site. Its dignified classical design was carefully created to complement the surrounding Georgian architecture, combining an ashlar limestone façade with red-brick recesses, limestone pilasters and decorative stonework around the ground-floor windows.

The building welcomed Freemasons for the first time on 9 September 1931. Today, it remains a thriving Masonic centre and is home to 16 Craft lodges and 12 Royal Arch chapters, each contributing to its strong tradition of friendship, service and community.

A welcoming home for Freemasonry

Salford Masonic Hall offers excellent facilities for both formal meetings and social occasions. It has two Lodge rooms, a dedicated Chapter room and three dining suites where members and visitors can enjoy a meal together following their meetings.

The hall also has a spacious separate bar, providing a relaxed and welcoming place for members to meet, entertain visitors and enjoy each other’s company.

Throughout the year, Hemsley House hosts lodge meetings, dinners, charitable activities and social events attended by members, families, friends and guests.

Easy to reach

Located on the edge of Manchester city centre, Salford Masonic Hall is convenient for visitors travelling from across Salford, Manchester and the surrounding area.

The building is fully accessible and benefits from ample free on-site parking. Salford Crescent railway station is also within easy walking distance, with regular connections to Manchester and locations across Greater Manchester and the wider North West.
