In May 2023, there will be almost fifty masons & non-masons who had heard about a charity event that involved zip-lining across a vast quarry in North Wales, and they decided to sign up for the challenge all in the name of charity.

These participants came from all walks of life, with different backgrounds and beliefs. However, they all shared one common goal: to help those in need; all the Zipline proceeds will go to the Province of East Lancashire 2026 Festival Appeal, which feeds into the Masonic Charitable Foundation.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) is Freemasonry’s central Masonic Grant Giving Charity. It is one of the largest grant-making charities in the country. It helps thousands of people annually by awarding millions of pounds to local and national charities and other vital services that significantly impact the wider community. It builds better lives by enabling opportunity, advancing healthcare and education, and promoting independence for Freemasons, their families and the wider community. The MCF provides life-changing support through a combination of advice, practical assistance and financial grants.

There are many Manchester Masons taking part, including our Provincial Grand Master, Robert Frankl, and our area Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Mark Davis, who have signed up to take to the skies and will be accompanied by members from all over the province, including David McGurty, the Assitant Provincial Grand Master for the Northern Area of the Province.

The current amount raised is over 10000, a significant amount for all those taking part – there is still time to give to the cause. The link for the giving page can be found below.
