On Sunday 27th April 2025, A joint initiative between City East and City West Broken Column Event took place at the magnificent Salford Masonic Hall,.

The Broken Column Lunch is a cherished occasion in our Masonic year — a day devoted to celebrating the incredible women in our lives, especially the widows of our dearly departed Brethren.

It is a heartfelt reminder that, although our Brothers may have ascended to the Grand Lodge Above, their families remain a part of our Masonic family, treasured and supported. This year’s event was filled with fellowship, friendship, and reflection. Guests enjoyed a delicious meal, with the atmosphere beautifully complemented by the sounds of a fantastic live band The Phill Steadman Quintet, who truly set the tone for a joyous and uplifting day.

Throughout the afternoon, we were privileged to hear inspiring Masonic speeches, reaffirming our enduring commitment to care for the families of our Brothers. One of the most touching moments of the day was hearing the widows share their personal stories — memories of the Masons they loved and supported. Their words were moving, powerful, and heartwarming, reminding us all of the lasting impact of a Brother’s life and work.

Every widow in attendance received a thoughtful and memorable gift as a small token of our respect, gratitude, and love. The Broken Column Event is open joint initiative between City East and City West areas, All Masons, and Lodges are warmly encouraged to continue inviting and supporting their widows, ensuring they know they are, and always will be, an important part of our Masonic family. A sincere thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this a truly memorable day.
