On Monday, the 3rd of June 2024, Irwell Valley Lodge celebrated 60 years in Freemasonry for Alan Baldwin.

It was a busy morning at Salford Masonic Hall. Everyone was getting into their positions, as Ian MacNeill took the chair and opened the Lodge in due form.

Following a report, Lee Gridley, Provincial Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies, entered the Lodge and announced that John Griffin, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master for the Province of East Lancashire, was outside and demanded admission.

Once the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, accompanied by a City West Area Delegation and a number of Grand officers, were seated, the Worshipful Master offered him the gavel, which he was delighted to accept on this occasion.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master introduced the members of the delegation.

The Deputy Provincial Grand Master asked the Deputy Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies to place Alan in the centre of the lodge, the secretary then read the meeting minutes when Alan was initiated 60 years ago.

After reading the minutes Martin Roche gave a heartfelt personal tribute to Alan before the Deputy Provincial Grand Master gave his tribute to Alan.

After the tribute, the Deputy Provincial Grand Master read the letter from the Provincial Grand Master before he presented Alan with the certificate celebrating 60 years in Freemasonry.

Afterwards, the City West Area Chairman Chris Armstrong presented Alan with his 60th Pin before he was conducted around the Lodge to receive the acclaim of the brethren he justly deserves.

The Lodge closed, and afterwards, there was an excellent social board, followed by the usual toasts.
