From ancient times, no Master nor Fellow could be absent from his lodge meeting, and every brother had to be ready to attend their regular lodge meeting. This happened again on Saturday, the 28th of October, when Droylsden Lodge No.3282 held its regular meeting in Prestatyn.
This lodge is an odd one as it is an East Lancashire Lodge based in the City East area, which holds all its meetings, excluding its Installation, in the Prestatyn Masonic Hall.
The curious fact is that all the members come from around Manchester but decided to retire to North Wales.
The lodge was opened in due form by WM Phil Kelly, and the minutes previously circulated from the last meeting were approved. There was a report at the door and the Acting ProvDepDC WBro. Harold Cooper was admitted. He announced that the Deputy Provincial Grand Master of East Lancashire, VW Bro John Farrington PGSwdB, accompanied by Officers of the United Grand Lodge and a Provincial Deputation, was outside the Lodge Room and demanded admission.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master of East Lancashire, VW Bro John Farrington and the rest of the Officers were admitted.
When the delegation sat down, W. Bro. Kelly offered the gavel to VWBro Farrington, who gracefully declined on this occasion.
A brilliantly delivered demonstration of the Second-Degree Ceremony took place. Bro Stuart Fields took on the role of the Candidate who received the 2nd Degree Tools exceptionally well performed by W. Bro Peter Barton-Price, PProvSGD.
After the ceremony, a Grand Lodge Certificate was presented to Bro. Fields and The Past Masters Honours Board were unveiled to the Lodge, making the evening extra special.
The Deputy Provincial Grand Master of East Lancashire, V W Bro John Farrington, mentioned how happy he was to make his dream come true in attending the Droylsden Lodges meeting, something he had always wanted to do.
The Manchester Level Club, as always, attended with a few members, showing their support whenever possible; after all, that’s what Freemasonry is all about.
It was an evening to remember, a lodge of brothers who support and care for each other, showing that it doesn’t matter what happens in the world; brotherly love will always prevail.
