Bro David Mills on a Lodge walk

Each man has a story, and a different background, and many of them would pass each other without looking at each other. This happens because life is complicated, it’s hectic, but sometimes, coincidence or faith embraces our life and transforms it in to something we could not see until the picture is complete.

That’s exactly what has happened to Bro David, who joined Freemasonry only after moving from Bolton into Manchester. “I’d been aware about this Society all my adult life, but I never took the chance to find out more, because I was brought up to believe that Freemasonry was shrouded in secrets and that you had to be asked to join, but everything has its own time and when I did relocate to Manchester, I suddenly felt the desire to make that step”.

Everything started when he met W Bro Ed Beaman, City East Chairman at Manchester Hall and like a puzzle, rapidly all made sense. “I felt that I was at the right place, then that was my first Regular Step in Freemasonry”

David was initiated into Felicity Lodge 4365 where he became the new Assistant Director of Ceremonies, before becoming a joining member of Maccabee Lodge where he was appointed as Inner Guard and Ashbury Lodge 1459, enjoying every meeting but also, going out and visiting as many lodges as he can. “I can honestly say that Freemasonry has made a tremendous difference in my life and, even if I’m not a man of regret, I do regret greatly not having joined it many years ago!”

His passion and enthusiasm have grown daily and last January, David was appointed as the new Area Membership Officer of City East, to interview potential Candidates who wish to start this journey.

When not working or at Masonic duties, David enjoys cooking for his partner or if alone, reading while listening to classical music. He is also a Career Ready Mentor for young, disadvantaged people.

Freemasonry it’s like an old friend who we don’t see much, but he’s always there, to take us by hand and Lead us through new horizons making everything calmer in this hectic world.
