Charity Auction for Wood Street Mission Raises over £4000

Manchester Level Club held a charity auction on Saturday the 14th November and raised over £4000 for children in poverty.

Manchester Masons would like to thank all those who donated a great amount of items to the auction and all those who bid and raised money on the night – Especially the Manchester District Chairman Chris Wildman and Paul O’Carroll who were constantly bidding on each others lots (I’ve been told that alcohol had no part to play in it whatsoever!)

There were many great auction lots donated by Masons and Non Masons from all over Manchester, and with the help of Global Auctioneers in Manchester who did the auction free of charge.

Established in 1869 by Alfred Alsop, Wood Street Mission was born in a climate of widespread poverty and destitution. During the late 19th century, the mission worked in the slums of Deansgate, running a soup kitchen, a rescue society and home for neglected boys, and a night shelter for the homeless.
