Myths and Legend appear to be fundamental elements in the construction of ideas and feelings that are transmitted with them. The World is partly based on them. They contribute to their expression and, as often happens, the importance and quality of the combination of story elements is greater than the facts themselves.

There are many myths, many books talking about Freemasonry, about King Solomon’s Temple, about the myth of Hiram Abiff and so on. They follow a certain chronological narrative, but the lowest common denominator is that they revolve mainly around moral and spiritual self-improvement, self-building, brotherhood and death.

For the First time, a group of Light Blues, from City East – Manchester – of the East Lancashire Level Club (ELLC), decided to put up together a play written by Bro Francesco Toto, Chairman of the ELLC City East, “How Freemasonry was Born”.

The cast was composed of Bro Stuart MacKenzie, Bro Nick Druce, Bro Oz,Shtrosberg, Bro John Lane, Bro Sean Duggan, Bro Guy Muntu and Bro Octavio Borges.
A number of Provincial Officers as well as Light Blues attended the Play, including the Assistant Provincial Grand Masters, W Bro Paul O’Carroll and W Bro Dave McGurty, the City West Chairman, W Bro Chris Armstrong, the PPSGWL W Bro Harold Cooper.

England swells with life, grandeur and poverty entwined, its streets teeming with ambition, hunger, and whispers of rebellion. The streets pulse with unrest. The divide between crown and people grows wider, yet the machinery of government presses on. In 1715, rebellion rose in Scotland and the north of England; Jacobite forces marching for James Stuart’s cause.

Main while, a group of friends met at the Apple Tree Tavern, not far from St. Mary’s Church, near Covent Garden. They did not know that their meeting would change the world for centuries to come.

Francesco said “It felt the right thing to do. –– The young Masons needs something new to show all the Brethren theirs ideas. We worked together as a Team, meeting regularly to put on the best show we could. After all, that’s what Freemasonry is all about. One of the Brethren, Bro Nick Druce from ArkScroll Lodge 6594, wrote a poem for the play on my request. His poem was the icing on the cake for our play”.

Brethren assembled, lend your ear
To ancient tale we hold so dear.
They sought the Word, the secret sign
The mystic truths of craft divine.

So make yourself comfortable Dear Reader, as our tale unfolds in these streets, in these halls, in the shadows behind the throne.
